# Plivo CLI

> Build, test and debug voice agents, calls and messaging on Plivo from your terminal, yourself or through a coding agent.

The Plivo CLI lets you work with Plivo from your terminal. Connect a voice agent to a phone number, make a test call, find out why a call failed, send a message or check what you spent, without opening the console or writing API code. You can run the commands yourself, or connect the CLI to your coding agent, such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex, and ask for what you need in plain English.

```bash theme={null}
brew install plivo/tap/plivo
plivo login
plivo numbers list
```

Homebrew works on macOS and Linux. For Windows and other installers, see [Install and log in](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/install.md).

## Get started

* [Use it with a coding agent](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/agents.md): paste one prompt into your coding agent. It installs the CLI and the Plivo skills, then does the work, asking you before anything that spends money.
* [Use it yourself](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/install.md): install with one command, log in through your browser, and list your numbers.

## What you can do

* [Voice agents over Audio Streaming](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/voice-agent/test-websocket.md): test your WebSocket connection without a phone, connect your voice agent to a number and take real calls.
* [Voice agents over SIP trunking](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/voice-agent/connect-sip-platform.md): connect LiveKit, ElevenLabs, Retell, Vapi or your own SIP platform to a number.
* [Debug a call](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/voice-agent/diagnose-call.md): get a plain-English explanation of why a call failed, who hung up, and how to fix it.

You can also use it for [calls](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/voice-agent/calls.md), [messaging](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/apis/messaging.md), [numbers](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/apis/numbers.md), [account and usage](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/apis/account.md), [questions to Plivo's AI assistant](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/apis/help.md) and [any other Plivo API](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/apis/api.md).

## Safe by default

* **Confirm gated actions.** Buying a number, placing a call and deleting account resources require `--yes`. This is not a universal billing gate: [number lookup](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/apis/account.md#lookup) is billed without it.
* **Preview first.** `--dry-run` previews changes. Some checks still read account data, such as `voice streams readiness`.
* **Easy to script.** Most commands return one JSON document with `-o json`. `ask` streams JSON Lines. Exit codes describe failures.
* **Secrets are redacted.** Auth tokens and passwords normally read `[REDACTED]`. Creating a subaccount shows its new token once; `--show-secrets` reveals other redacted values.

See [Configuration and troubleshooting](https://plivo.com/docs/cli/configure.md) for every flag, output format and exit code.
